London Fields Live Sessions with Joanne
After a lengthy three month hiatus, Joanne Rowe, AKA DJ FolksyJo of the award winning British Folk Invasion on KCSC Radio in California, is coming back with a bang on this side of the pond! London Fields Radio Live Sessions with Joanne is the new show on London Fields Radio where I'll be chatting with Unsigned acts in and around Hackney and letting them serenade me with their tunes.
I will be taking over from The Dalston Howl and looking forward to working with the London Fields team.
The first volume of the show will be available for your open ears on Monday 20th August on http://www.londonfieldsradio.com/ and will feature the wonderfully brilliant Geoff Glees of Sweet Bread.

Imagine if he'd decided to get the elevator... It's pretty good luck that he managed to bump into all his band mates on the way down the stairs.

The most unsuspecting expression lies on Johnny Flynn's face as he makes us quiver with his old world folk.

Planet Earth: Home to the Race of Song
I always imagine what the human race will be known for when other species from other planets discover us. Is there a group of logical Vulcan type creatures looking down on Earth thinking "Those Humans sure are a comical race." or "Wow those Humans sure know how to surf!"?
I'd like to think we'd be seen as a race of the arts. At a universal level, Human beings spend vast amounts of time creating beautiful things like Art, Literature and most of all, Music.
Maybe Aliens will see us as the musical planet. A world that sings constantly and doesn't need to rationalise the notes and chords we can create and manipulate for pure enjoyment.
I imagine the Earth ringing with song. The camera pans out into space and an alien race of people studies us and christens us the "Race of Song".
Vulcans have their logic, Ewoks have their forest dwellings and Humans have their music.

Diamonds and Rust performed by First Aid Kit
First Aid Kit doing it again, praying to the church of folk and Joan Baez.
In The Beginning...
Plato once said, "Music gives a soul to the Universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything."
Through all the blood, the tears and the bullets in this world, we still have the notes, the chords and the strings to give back life when we have taken so much.
